The Tsunami Education Project (TEP) in Sri Lanka was developed by Thorsten Klose, Janis Kirpitis and Sandra Laskowski (TEP Team in 2006).

The foreign experts were cooperating with the NGO HELP from Germany. HELP was providing the main finance of the project.

HELP is engaged in emergency assistance as well as in rehabilitation and development projects. Whenever possible they are linking emergency aid with selfhelp. It is their aim to encourage the efforts made by communities affected by catastrophes and misery in order to have them improve their living circumstances themselves. For this reason HELP is closely cooperating with indigenous partners and local NGOs.

HELP is member of Aktion Deutschland Hilft (United Help from Germany - ADH).

ADH is a federation of German aid organizations acting concert to provide quick and effective help in response to major disasters and emergencies abroad. In times of need, the initiators of this federation for action, each an autonomous organization in its own rights, pool their knowledge and capacities to provide the most effective help possible.

The TEP was also partly financed by the city of Bochum (Germany).

Immediately after the first news about the devastating tsunami in the Indian Ocean on Dec. 26th, 2004 the city of Bochum collected donations to support affected people in the disaster area. Beside the TEP in Sri Lanka, Bochum was also supporting the Ambalangoda Housing Project at the southwest coast in Sri Lanka.

The ENCOURAGER Foundation was also supporting the TEP in Sri Lanka in providing financial support for some administrative work of the project.

The Encourager Foundation is related to the matters of christianity. In general this foundation is supporting different projects worldwide which are focused on relief activities for people who have been affected for example by natural disasters and civil war.

The webdesign, domain-administration and the general IT-support of the TEP was provided by Philipp Suedmeyer. He studied IT-Security at the Ruhr University in Bochum and finished his studies in 2006.

Luckshan Graphics is a printing company based in Colombo (Sri Lanka). The TEP was cooperating with Luckshan Graphics which was producing different educational material for the TEP geography workshops.
